Purpose:
Business Technology Solutions (BTS) Analytics & Information Strategy is an ambitious team of curious data and analytics professionals on a mission to elevate decision-making by AbbVie BTS leadership through timely and relevant insights. We uncover opportunities for BTS by digging into data to find the “why” and “what can we do about it?” Then we ensure progress towards those opportunities through structured analytics and reporting that enables timely action and course correction. We focus on the highest priority challenges for BTS, saying no when needed to protect time during regular working hours for deep analytical creativity and collaborative problem solving. We challenge ourselves to continuously improve the insights we deliver, learning from each other and insights teams across AbbVie.

You will succeed as the BTS Analytics BI Tech Lead if you excel at leveraging deep expertise with Business Intelligence reporting tools and best practices to design reporting solutions (including but not limited to dashboards) that maximize senior leader engagement with and benefits from data-driven insights. Working from user stories and clear requirements from the reporting product management team and in close partnership with the integrations tech lead focused on the data warehouse and semantic layer, you architect and design a presentation layer and UI that brings the reporting vision to life. You bring together the best of what is needed, possible, and feasible, ensuring reporting is delivered on time and sustainably.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conceive, design, engineer, and implement Business Intelligence software and technology solutions by studying information needs; understanding user needs via the product management team; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; Demonstrate the ability to resolve key project hurdles and assumptions by effectively utilizing available information and technical expertise.
- Demonstrate high proficiency across a wide range of Business Intelligence technologies and platforms related to analytics reporting design and development, data curation, data warehousing, data analysis and visualization tools, data storage, network connectivity, and virtualization/cloud environments.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the AbbVie Business Technology Solutions organization and how it supports the broader AbbVie business, and utilize this knowledge in the rapid advancement of agile, impactful, and cost-effective solutions
- Highly autonomous and productive in performing activities, requiring only mínimal direction from or interaction with supervisor. Keeps key stakeholders informed through effective verbal and written communication.
- Matures and leverages relationships with affiliates, subsidiaries, vendors, and industry peers in accordance with AbbVie Values, Vendor Management Office, and Purchasing to further the mission, vision and goals of the organization.
- May mentor/supervise one or more contractors; is accountable for the effective delivery of the contracted scope of work of the individuals.
- Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree with 7 years experience; Master's Degree with 6 years experience; PhD with 2 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
- Possess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of Business Intelligence solutions delivery and associated platforms (Power BI preferred)
- Experience pulling data into BI tools from one or more database technologies (Oracle, SQL Server), data warehouse, enterprise gateway and working experience with large data sets.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated proficiency defining custom dimensions, writing DAX queries, creating advanced UI/UX in Power BI reports, and tuning performance for a best user experience and adoption.
- Recommend and own improvements to analytics, ability to move fast and be responsive to changing business needs.
- Deep understanding of meta data management, data dictionary, catalog, user training, and lineage documentation.
- Proven implementation of creative technology solutions that advanced the business.
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
