Acuity International is currently seeking Foreign National Surgical Technician to support our mission in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Operating Room Technician provided direct and indirect services to surgical patients under the supervision of the General Surgeon or Operating Room Nurse.

Location: Deploying to Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

**Duties**:

- Provides medical services at the scope and level of an Operating Room Technician to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.
- Performs necessary tasks for Scrub role using technical skills.
- Assist Anesthetist with patient positioning.
- Assures patient/personal safety by maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Assembly, wrapping and sterilization of instrument sets as necessary.
- Disinfection, decontamination and sterilization of the surgical instruments.
- Ensure proper instrumentation for each procedure.
- Follows all principles of sterile technique.
- Loading operations of the Stream Sterilizer.
- Participates in all counts (instruments, sponges, sharps, etc.) as necessary.
- Proper storage and handling of surgical instruments to include testing of biological indicators.
- Assists with the maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Assists with the managing of day to day activities and prioritizing tasks.
- All Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow up care required.
- Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes.
- Communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Graduate of a school and documentation of having successfully completed appropriate certifying requirements for Surgical/Operating room technician, as applicable to the specific profession per current country’s requirements.
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience as Surgical/OR Technician is required.
- Skilled at obtaining body fluids, tissues and other specimens.
- Surgical technologists need manual dexterity to handle instruments quickly.
- Surgical technologists must be conscientious, orderly, and emotionally stable to handle demands of the operating room environment.
- Technologists must respond quickly and must be familiar with operating procedures in order to have instruments ready for surgeons without having to be told.
- Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
- Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.

**Requirements**:

- Must have a current passport.
- Must be Fluent in speaking and writing English.
- Favorable background check.
- Must sign an International Assignment Agreement.
- May be required to attend specialized training.

Physical Requirements:

- Must undergo a pre-deployment physical and meet fitness for duty requirements.
- No conditions that would prevent the wear of personal protective equipment; including protective mask, ballistic helmet, body armor and chemical/biological protective garments or conditions that would prevent the capability of donning, lifting or carrying of up to 70 lbs. of referenced gear while running to a bunker or protected area in the face of perceived or imminent danger.
- Location of services may at times be in remote, austere or challenging environments.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting as required for patient care and transport.
