JD Howlette Law is looking for a dedicated Litigation Paralegal to join our growing civil litigation and business law practice. We handle a wide variety of legal matters and are in need of a motivated point person to assist with preparing pleadings, motions, and other court documents, and performing legal research to advise the supervising attorney on specific legal issues or questions of law. We rely heavily on technology to assist us in all aspects of the law office's operations.
**Responsibilities**
- **Case Management**: Assist attorneys in managing all phases of litigation, from initiation to trial, including preparing and organizing case files, maintaining case calendars, and tracking deadlines.
- **Document Preparation**: Draft, review, and finalize legal documents such as complaints, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests and responses, and pre-trial briefs. Ensure all documents are properly formatted according to firm's standard operating procedures and court requirements.
- **Discovery**: Coordinate and manage the discovery process, including collecting, reviewing, and organizing documents, preparing discovery responses, and conducting legal research.
- **Client Communication**: Serve as a liaison between attorneys and clients. Maintain regular contact with clients to provide updates, gather information, and respond to inquiries.
- **Legal Research**: Conduct legal research using online databases and other resources to support case strategies and provide information for attorneys' use in court proceedings.
- **Trial Preparation**: Assist with trial preparation by organizing exhibits, coordinating witness schedules, preparing trial binders, and providing support during trial.
- **Administrative Support**: Perform administrative duties such as scheduling depositions, hearings, and meetings, managing attorney calendars, and coordinating with court personnel and other legal professionals.
- **Filing and Record Keeping**: Maintain and organize electronic case files, ensuring all documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
- **Team Collaboration**: Work collaboratively with attorneys, other paralegals, and support staff to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.
**Necessary Skills & Requirements**
- **Excellent written and verbal communication skills**:
- Minimum of **2 years of experience** as a litigation paralegal or a related position
- Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures and court rules
- Full-time availability Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EST
- **Reliable internet connection, a quiet and private workspace, and a functional personal computer or laptop**:
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software
- Proficiency with Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe
- Excellent time management skills, **attention to detail**, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- **Strong organizational and planning skills**:
- Must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Must be self-motivated and able to meet strict deadlines
- Excellent written and **verbal English communication skills**

Pay: $20,000.00 - $28,000.00 per month
