Position Summary: The Engineer II - Test is responsible for executing and ensuring the on-time development of reliable tests for all product lines within Electrified Powertrain, which ensure new or modified products are able to be manufactured, meet customer specifications, and maintain company standards, in addition to serving as a technical liaison for test activities in order to support internal and external customers. Works on the entire projects of moderate complexity.

Position Responsibilities:

- Perform test engineering and related analysis as required to support internal and external customers.
- Execute all test activities including the definition of test plans, test procedures, and work orders for lab technicians.
- Develop test plans, procedures, work instructions from customer requirements DVP&Rs, and FMEAs.
- Setup, configure, and operate test setups, fixtures, and instrumentation as required by test plans, test standards, and customer instructions.
- Design test fixtures as required per customer requirements, test plan, and test standards; validate test and product designs accordingly.
- Implement and deploy test fixtures, testing apparatuses and machines.
- Preform troubleshooting and root cause analysis of issues in tested products, procedures and equipment.
- Lead assembly and handling of prototype transmissions, torque converters, axles, and e-mobility products.
- Work with ZF engineering teams (program management, design, hardware validation, control, and resident) and departments within global R&D.
- Plans project or subtasks so they may be tracked and presented.
- May lead technical engineering\project and independently determines approach to assigned tasks.
- Works under general supervision.
- Able to guide his/her work group and lead work teams within the work group.
- Able to give effective presentations to general audiences and write convincing proposals and reports with all necessary backup material for internal consumption.
- Interaction with customers
- Follow the design procedures and specifications established by division R&D.
- Ensure completion of all 8-Ds for testing-development issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing, and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Ensure departmental compliance with all IATF16949 policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience:

- B.S. in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3-4 years of experience (Internship/ Co-Op experience included)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Advanced knowledge of commonly sed concepts, practices, and procedures within Engineering.
- Working knowledge of product line(s) and engineering design principles.
- Experience with engineering change systems.
- Advanced understanding of engineering techniques and principles.
- Functional/Product Knowledge, ability to train others
- Ability to perform a variety of complex tasks and accomplish goals under direction.
- Ability to guide project(s)
- Working knowledge of measurement techniques, hydraulics, and vehicle testing techniques.
- Familiar with data acquisition systems, data analysis, and data processing
- Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Able to manage multiple responsibilities
- Superior interpersonal, communications and listening skills
- Excellent English language competency

Preferred Skills and experience:

- 3+ years of experience with automotive testing technology
- 1+ years of directing others in addition to delegating/tracking independent work assignments and training programs
- Ability/willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
- Knowledge of 5S and Six Sigma problem-solving methodology
- Familiarity with plant operations, including machining, assembly and heat treatment
