**Job Summary**:
The Category Manager develops, implements, and manages execution of multiple category strategies and improvement plans that support the business They evaluate and maintain supplier relationships as well as research and recommend new suppliers in a highly regulated environment. Category Manager also monitor market conditions to ensure the organization receives the best value for purchases and provide input on strategic decisions that affect their program(s).

**Essential Responsibilities**:

- Drive negotiations and contracting, develop robust category strategies that reduce supply base, reduce dependence on singe/sole sourced suppliers, deliver continuity of supply and provide for annual cost reductions.
- Develop a strong understanding of the current supply base and then define the future supply base requirements considering input from sales, marketing, operations, finance and product engineering
- Drive deployment of strategic supply base through supply chain agreements, supplier development and supplier transitions to strategic suppliers
- Supplier relationship management and risk assessment while developing and implementing appropriate risk mitigation plans.
- Drive tracking and reporting for category spend areas. Track compliance to approved supplier list. Supports formal management reporting to senior executives Maintain appropriate key performance indicators to effectively manage current suppliers and ensure that all aspects of supply chain agreements are being satisfied
- Research, recommend and certify new suppliers who can provide superior products and services at pricing which meets or exceeds the marketplace
- Provide support as needed to the operational teams impacted by disruptions in the supply chain caused by shortage and below standard product being received
- Liaison with operations to develop capacity plans to meet the longer-term demand requirements
- Have the ability to support and/or lead cross-functional teams in developing procurement strategies based on market research
- Oversee and maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of RFQ/RFP process currently being utilized and look for process improvements of same
- Collaborate with the business units and production teams on projects as needed, i.e. new product launches and inventory initiatives Identify potential strategic partnerships; conduct supplier negotiations and business reviews

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related field of study
- Level of Experience: 4 - 6 years
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a category strategy to deliver supply continuity and cost savings
- Demonstrated success developing and managing supplier relationships to deliver on business commitments
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills, problem solving and learning ability
- Demonstrated ability to work within defined processes and identify process improvements; lead, drive and sustain improvements
- Demonstrated comprehension and experience with various business models and their effect on supply chain structure, planning and execution
- Demonstrated functional knowledge of procurement in a highly regulated and global environment
- Demonstrated ability to participate and lead teams in a homogenous or cross-functional environment
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and adjust those priorities to maximize outcomes
- Demonstrated proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
