**WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER**:
TNC seeks a Deputy Chief of Party to direct an anticipated $31 million project entitled “Sustainable and Prosperous Communities (SPC)” funded by USAID in a consortium of five organizations. The objective of this five-year project is to increase hectares under sustainable, profitable and integrated productive systems, contributing to GHG emissions and deforestation reductions while improving small holder producers’ livelihoods in Southeastern Mexico (Chiapas, Oaxaca, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo). In this position, the Deputy Chief of Party will support the Chief of Party to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative. Key activities consist on: oversee the staff, promote an implementation with a landscape approach, ensure optimal communication and coordination within the team and with the partners, produce reports, document progress, oversee the financial execution of the initiative, ensures the achievement of administrative standards and donor´s regulations, coordinate actions for internal governance structures, and provides technical advisory on implementation activities. This position reports to the Chief of Party.
The position will preferably be based in Mérida.

**WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU**:

- The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) will provide overall strategic and operational management of the program. Main functions consist on overseeing the program’s annual work plan development and ensure that systems are in place to enable optimal coordination and effectiveness within the team and with partners and stakeholders. Provide high level assistance and act as Chief of Party in the absence of the Chief of Party (CoP). Is an inspirational leader who uses TNC’s code of conduct and competencies as a baseline to lead by example. Dedicates time to set expectations, guide, coach and develop staff knowing that being a great leader is as important as the technical knowledge.
- **RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE**
- Ensure that a strategic and operation plan exists, and that the team works accordingly with the established goals, objectives, activities and indicators.
- Coordinates the process of elaboration of quarterly and annual reports, to ensure quality and timeliness of technical and financial reporting to USAID.
- Tracks the annual work plan progress and provides adjustments.
- Supervise staff and provide advisory and coaching for professional development of the team
- Develop and maintain governance and reporting systems.
- Supervise and support the implementation of grants, sub grants and contracts, both technically and financially.
- Support COP to manage daily financial and technical operation according to Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Plan.
- Promote effective communication mechanisms with the donor, within the consortium and external stakeholders.
- Oversee and provide advisory of all technical activities related to prioritizing, planning, implementing, monitoring, scaling up, and ensuring long-term sustainability of the project.
- Oversee the achievement of internal standard and donor´s regulations.
- Support COP to ensure the effective integration of the project into the institutional priorities and strategies of the TNC Mexico consistent with TNC’s Mission and Values. Is co-responsible for updating the project in TNC platforms (such HUB, dashboards, etc)
- Frequently travels domestically. May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances.
- Serve as Acting Chief of Party during periods of her absence.
- Ensures compliance under strict ethical standards and donor´s regulations while respecting partners and local communities’ rights.

**WHAT YOU'LL BRING**:
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in projects related with sustainable and equitable value chains for natural resources (particularly forest management, agroforestry, and regenerative agriculture), community-based conservation, climate change adaptation or mitigation, or improving access to markets for sustainably produced products in Mexico and with local communities.
