**SUMMARY OF POSITION**:
The Solidarity Center (SC), an international non-profit worker rights organization headquartered in Washington, DC, with offices in Mexico, seeks a full-time Director of Finance to oversee financial systems and internal controls for all projects implemented in Mexico.

The Finance Director acts as the primary point of contact between the Mexico Field Office and the Finance and Regional (Americas) Departments in Washington regarding all financial matters. This individual also provides guidance to project leadership in making financial decisions as custodians of United States Government (USG) funding and other assets. The Finance Director implements and administers policies and procedures for accounting and financial oversight. In addition, this position is responsible for coordinating and guiding program staff to prepare monthly financial projections for project implementation.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Continuously assess and upgrade the office’s policies and procedures to ensure that Mexico has strong internal controls to safeguard against theft, corruption, wastes and abuses.
- Ensure all financial disbursements follow the SC’s financial policies and procedures and any applicable Mexican Government laws.
- Ensure all financial disbursements are in full compliance with different donors’ requirements such as the U.S. government, foundations and other donors and/or governments.
- Work with the Washington program team and with Mexico Office management to develop and monitor the financial budget and strategy of the Mexico portfolio made up of USG-funded projects to ensure that it aligns with the strategic goals of the awards.
- Maintain general ledger to ensure all expenditures are accurately accounted for and financial statements contain accurate information and proper allocation of individual donor funded projects.
- Oversee sub-awards financial reports and invoicing.
- Verify and approve Mexico Office’s monthly financial reports for its accuracy and completeness before submitting to Project Accountant in Washington, DC.
- Analyze expenditures and make recommendations for cost control and reprogramming.
- Work closely with other departments in the Mexico office to create an interdepartmental process to ensure that SC’s policies and procedures are followed for all incurred expenses.
- Collaborate and liaise with program staff in the Mexico office and the project accountant in Washington in all matters related to finance and accounting. Maintain open and regular communication with the Washington, DC office.
- Supervise finance accounting staff to ensure accurate accounting of all financial transactions and on time submission of deliverables to Project Accountant.
- Ensure timely reconciliation and liquidation of all travel and other advances to staff, partners, sub awardees, in compliance with the SC’s policies and procedures.
- Train and build the capacity of staff in current accounting practices through coaching, mentoring, and refresher courses.
- Ensure sound recordkeeping of all financial documentations generated by the project.
- Other responsibilities as assigned from time to time.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A minimum of eight (8) years working with USG-funded projects
- A minimum of four (4) years in a management finance and administration position.
- Bachelor’s, master’s or an MBA with a specialization in finance, accounting, or other relevant degree(s) in finance or related field (or the equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Fluency in both Spanish and English is required.
- Travel may be required.

**SKILLS**:

- Strategic thinking, analytical skills, sound judgment, and extremely organized.
- Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong knowledge of USG regulations including Uniform Guidelines, FAR, 2 CFR 200 (formerly OMB Circulars, A-110, A-122 and A-133).
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and work well under pressure.
- Experience managing/processing subawards preferred.
- Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
- Able to lead, collaborate, and communicate clearly and assertively.
- Able to present a great deal of detailed information in a concise and professional manner.
- Able to liaise and communicate with auditors and funders when needed.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and cross-cultural skills
- Excellent prioritization skills to handle multiple tasks and deliver in a timely manner.
- Able to work independently without requiring heavy supervision.
- Proficient in the use of QuickBooks and Deltek systems.
