**Job Synopsis**

MCC in Latin America-Caribbean has a vision for contributing to societal and systemic change. This Networker position will support the MCC leaders and staff in 6 programs across the region to strengthen context analysis, build up connections between local partners carrying out similar work in themes like migration, climate change and peacebuilding, help amplify key messages towards policy makers, reinforce dignifying communication/education about the Latin America-Caribbean towards MCC constituents in Canada-United States and encourage cross-border collaboration with this vision in mind. The role requires strong communication and coordination skills, with a willingness to work with the rhythms of diverse stakeholders.

**Job Details**

This is a full-time, Service Worker position with a set term length. Service Workers are MCC personnel who are financially supported through a monthly stipend, coverage of living expense and a comprehensive benefits package.

**Qualifications**
- College or University degree in international development, sociology, political science, communications, anthropology or another relevant field.
- Experience working or living in Latin America-Caribbean, connected with local NGOs/churches.
- Familiarity with MCC, and with the diversity of perspectives held among MCC constituents and partners.
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish is important. Creole or French language skills would be a significant asset.
- Experience in using social media to communicate with diverse audiences.
- Experience in community-focused process for social change.
- Experience with different approaches to context analysis.
- Experience in facilitating community participation in workshops, forums, etc.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and public speaking. This includes the ability to edit articles written by MCC workers or partners in the region, as while as the ability to write and communicate directly with diverse audiences. Audio-visual communication skills (eg. photography, video, art, podcasts) is desirable although not required.
- Strong skills in building relationships with diverse people, including demonstrated ability to actively listen and collaborate with others both in person and remotely.
- Strong inter-cultural skills.
- Strong organizational skills, for both organizing information as well as event logistics.
- Ability to work independently and organize work priorities, while at the same time consulting and building consensus with a variety of stake-holders.
- Critical-thinking skills balanced by enthusiasm and the ability to find hope.

**Key Responsibilties**
- MCC in Latin America and the Caribbean works in partnership with local organizations together with vulnerable people and communities. We seek to strengthen people’s agency and life-giving identity, accompanying new alternatives for more dignified lives. This commitment leads us to support programs with people affected by climate change, different forms of violence and with people who are migrating. MCC LACA highlights trauma-sensitive peacebuilding as an overarching focus for its work in the region. We often partner with local churches and small base organizations who work in communities not served by large NGOs. MCC LACA’s unique contribution is frequently facilitating networking and learning between partners and communities. By working with and connecting diverse sectors, cultures and spiritual perspectives, MCC builds bridges and contributes to conflict transformation.
This Networker role will collaborate closely with the MCC Area Directors and with the MCC Representatives from the 6 offices (Mexico, Haiti, Guatemala/El Salvador, Honduras/Nicaragua, Colombia and Bolivia/Southern Cone) to build on MCC’s strength in networking and connecting partners, staff, constituents and stakeholders across the Americas. These connections will serve for:

- Encouraging context analysis rooted in directly community realities and program experience, combined with a broader perspective of regional trends
- Exchanging experiences and learnings between partners and staff working in similar contexts or on similar issues
- Amplifying voices from specific contexts in LACA towards power-holders and policy-makers
- Engaging constituents about realities in LACA and highlighting partner-led initiatives in response to their contexts. Ensuring communication that dignifies people from LACA.
- Helping to facilitate MCC cross-system program/advocacy/communications initiatives that include MCC LACA programs. Encouraging collaboration and mutual understanding across different parts of MCC.
