Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Industrial Engineering Manager located in Guadalajara, South Campus.
Reporting to the Business Excellence Director, Industrial Engineering Manager role involves being responsible for leading a team of industrial engineers working on increasing productivity through the management of workers, methods of business organization, and technology to solve organizational, production, and related problems efficiently.
What a typical day looks like:
- Manages a team of engineers and technicians to establish work measurement programs and analyzes work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
- Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
- Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocation workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
- May develop management systems for cost analysis, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.
- Develops management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost analysis, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.
- Designs or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as determining the most efficient plant locations.
- Organizes details into a broad view of the total operations and organization of Flex.
- Partners with other engineering team members to design manufacturable new products.
- Leads initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve performance in constrained areas.
- Implements appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- BA/BS or equivalent work experience.
- Fluent English.
- Previous experience in engineering, including supervision.
- Demonstrates functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
- Demonstrates expertise in multiple areas and industry.
- Demonstrates proficient knowledge of the function and a thorough understanding of Flex and related business.
- Demonstrates knowledge of multiple functional technologies/processes, industries or functions and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.
- Must have a good knowledge of employment law and company practices, with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference to practical situations. Impacts the medium-term direction and operational success of the function.
- Executes and provides input to functional plans and objectives for the site.
- Enhances and provides input to functional processes or technologies.
- Has experience in leading major initiatives and provides input to those initiatives.
- May have P&L responsibility for sections/sub-functions.
- Makes decisions for the function and the site. Decisions may affect site.
- Demonstrates experience in performance development, teaching/ leading, mentoring and/or organization development. Instills appropriate behavior in others in support of Flex values.
