**Summary**:
The Purchasing Director is responsible for the strategic purchasing for Functional Ingredients (starches, sweeteners, enhancers, food chemicals, phosphates, flavors, yeasts and gums) for North America. The position will lead the Functional Ingredients Team in material sourcing, coverage management, customer directed coverage execution, negotiations, supplier relationship management and contract management for Griffith Foods U.S., Griffith Foods Canada, Griffith Foods Mexico, and Custom Culinary. The Purchasing Director is a member of the Griffith Foods Mexico Leadership Team.

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Developing and managing supplier relationships in conjunction with internal stakeholders (Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Finance, and Customer Service).
- Manage/oversight of risk associated with Functional Ingredients
- Development and management of the budgetary process and the associated Purchase Price Variance (PPV).
- Lead and/or support cross functional teams that impact Griffith Food’s Sustainable Sourcing Initiatives
- Communicate with internal and external customers on raw material topics, issues, and provide market updates.
- Manage and develop direct reports across regions.
- Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Execution of supplier scorecard process, supplier audit process as it relates to purchasing, and the rating of suppliers.
- Develop or support the Purchasing team in setting supplier and/or category strategies. Lead or assist in negotiating strategic contracts for specific Global Griffith Foods entities.
- Ensure proactive communication of supply chain issues to proper internal and external stakeholders and coordination of solution implementation.
- Customer interaction along with direct reports to facilitate market recommendations or as an information source.
- Purchasing representative/lead on cross functional projects.
- Ensure compliance of suppliers to Griffith Foods quality, regulatory, and legal documentation expectations.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Purchasing or Supply Chain. Master’s MBA degree a plus.
- 7-10 years’ progressive experience in food and beverage purchasing.
- Strong knowledge of risk management.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, etc.)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- In depth understanding of MRP/ERP systems.
- Strong process and analytical mindset.
- Contract development and management.
- Supplier Relationship Management.
- Professional certification (CPM/CPIM) a plus.
- Fully Bilingual (English/Spanish)
