The Finance Risk & Controls Manager will be responsible for supporting the Mexico Finance function’s Control and Governance Framework. The individual will be responsible for the proactive monitoring of the business environment, anticipating risk and control issues and the establishment, maintenance and nurturing of the Control and Governance environment. This will include a focus and oversight for audits and corrective actions needed, ensuring sustained results. It will also include providing oversight over operational and compliance risk management activities. The role will lead a team of Risk and Control professionals based in Mexico City.

The role will also provide oversight to control levers including Issue Management and supporting Finance audits.

The role will ensure readiness and oversight of reviews and examinations by Independent Compliance Risk Management (ICRM) and Independent Risk, as well as supporting other corporate-wide risk and control initiatives.

This role will directly support the Controller’s and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams, but will work collaboratively across the Finance function (e.g. Product Control, Tax, etc.) to assist in successfully mitigating regulatory, compliance and operational risk.

This role is a key advisory role and influential in driving a strong control environment across the Risk and Control processes for Mexico Finance. It provides an excellent opportunity to work with senior Finance leaders.

The Mexico Finance Risk & Controls Manager serves in a senior control role with responsibilities for oversight of control activities. Focus is on managing teams that facilitate audit coordination, Control policy support and management reporting covering risk and control.

Responsibilities include:

- Serve as trusted control advisors to Finance stakeholders. Partner with Finance stakeholders, First/Second Line functions and audit to provide audit advisory and risk and control support for Finance teams.
- Proactively identify emerging risks and assists Mexico Controller and CFO teams with resolving control deficiencies and control gaps. Perform review and challenge of corrective action plans that mitigate root cause of the issue.
- Serve as audit liaison and point of escalation. Lead discussions with external audit on potential findings, issue management, and escalation process.
- Assess previously identified control breakdowns to determine root cause and execute read-across to detect potential emerging risks and develop risk mitigation processes and activities. Partner with MCA and Pre-Assessment teams to drive improvements to MCA Completeness, MCA Accuracy and IA Effectiveness metrics.
- Proactively monitor and manage CFO/Controller Scorecards control metrics targets, drivers and Path to Green.
- Support key management reporting requirements, including risk and control committee reporting requirements (e.g. Business Risk Control Committee).
- Communicate and enforce policies, requirements, procedures and controls and assist with execution/implementation of key control policies and procedures.
- Oversight of Compliance Risk Management policies impacting Finance, including Personal Investment Trading Policies, Mandatory Absence, Conflicts of Interest, Conduct Policy and Policy Governance.
- Manage team of risk and control professionals, and drive professional development of team, including setting goals and completion of Individual Development Plans. Drive Voice Of Employee initiatives for team.
- Create control related presentations for monthly regional forums (e.g. Control Forum, Regional BRCC, etc.) and other presentations for senior management.
- Critical to the success of this position is the development of processes that result in the continuous strengthening of internal controls.
- Support risk and control projects and initiatives as required, including risk and control support of Mexico divestiture.
- Partner with Digital Finance team to assess opportunities to improve controls with RPA and digital tools.


**Knowledge/Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree; MBA or other advanced degree a plus
- 7+ years of financial experience and leadership progression a global financial services organization
- Strong understanding of risk and control
- Experience with understanding end-to-end processes, identification of risks and design of controls
- Familiarity with Operational Risk Management common practices and oversight responsibilities
- Audit experience in an accounting or financial services firm preferred
