Job Purpose
This position is accountable for executing the Material Requirements Planning system generated from the 2nd level master production schedule. DIMENSIONS:
Managed Inventory:$2-6 million
Assets Affected:Purchased Material Input
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Reports to Business Unit or Certified Assembly (CAM) Materials Manager. Position requires the ability to utilize Class "A" MRP II planning parameters with a fair degree of turbomachinery product and manufacturing process knowledge.
The position is responsible for basic material analysis and planning, new product introduction, change control coordination and execution, purchase part requisitioning, supplier scheduling, lead time reduction, inactive and obsolete inventory dispositions, systems data integrity, and effective measurements.
Major challenge is to ensure adequate material and timely input of work for shop floor execution. Major emphasis to be placed on increasing manufacturing throughput, reducing lead time, increasing inventory turns and improving customer satisfaction.
Position operates within Sales and Operations Planning Committee's approved product volume and production rates, plus all applicable company policies.
Internal contacts are Master Scheduling, Customer Service Physical Distribution, Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, and Finance and Accounting. External contacts are limited to supplier interfaces with respect to capacity and delivery.
An incumbent should be familiar with Class "A" MRP II concepts. A B.A. Degree in a related field, APICS (CPIM) certification is highly recommended.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Support the delivery performance to schedule for all master scheduled items under the position's control. Achieve cumulative cycle time reduction for master scheduled items under the position's control. Support local sponsored initiatives as required by Business Unit Management.
