**Job Summary**

Responsible for providing technical support to manufacturing and for assisting in material evaluation for both Acero Prime and outside customers. Will prepare and analyze metallographic and hardness samples through use of standard evaluation techniques. This position will also be responsible for measurement equipment, and documentation.

**Product Quality Metallurgical Engineer duties and responsabilities**:

- Responsible to monitor the product and process quality. First contact on customers to resolve problems.
- Analyze and provide a quick and effective solutions to quality problems, reported by client.
- Coordinate with external laboratories the required metallographic tests and their interpretation.
- Ensure the proper use of the tooling, according to the type of steel and its characteristics, and optimizing its use.
- Write and modify lab test procedures, train personnel in use/implementation.
- Become technical lead for all metallography audits/questions.
- Prepare and analyze samples such as welds, surface features, microstructure, hardness, etc.
- Providing technical support in Manufacturing.
- Assisting, conducting, and preparing reports for Failure Analyses.
- Communicating both orally and in writing with other departments and cognizant engineers in a precise, logical, informative, and tactful manner.
- Perform other duties as may be required.
- Identify, investigate and manage risk opportunities utilizing advance Quality tools (Lean, Six Sigma, PFMEA, PDCA, Control Plan, etc).
- Responsible on corrective actions, implementation to maintain on goal quality metrics stablished (Return rate, SCRAP, Rework). Developing solutions and improvements.
- Manage suppliers that support to comply in time with the customers.

**Job Requirements and experience**:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or related field
- Fluency in English
- + 30 years old
- Availability to roll shifts
- Previous experience in a similar position/industry (at least 2-3 years of experience)
- Great expertise and knowledge of steel metallurgy processes; quality defects and their causes, properties of Steel; such as tensile strength, elongation, R & N Value
- Desired experience in welding and steel heat treatment processes
- Extensive experience in a quality assurance environment required
- Proficiency in problem solving & quality techniques including SPC, PFMEA-Control Plan, PPAP, 8D problem solving, APQP, MSA, Capability Analysis, and Problem Solving
- Strong knowledge of ASTM/IATF 16949/ISO900 Standars
- Knowledge of Automotive Standards and Supplier Quality Manuals
- Management skills, negotiation, problem solving
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work efficiently in a team environment
- Preferably live in Saltillo or Ramos Arizpe
