City, México Amnesty International A tiempo completo

**JOB PURPOSE**

This is an opportunity to join Amnesty International's regional leadership team during a period of significant human rights challenges across the world and specifically within the Americas region. We are looking for an exceptional human rights expert, a leader and seasoned manager to lead our human rights work and operations across the Americas and manage an exceptional team and providing strategic support to our sections in the region.

You will contribute to represent Amnesty International in the field and elsewhere, including with senior government officials, media, peer organizations and other audiences.

As the continental leader of Amnesty International's International Secretariat in the region, you will work closely with the Americas management team to set up and manage the regional operation, control budgets and motivate and inspire regional staff. Indeed, you will be integral to the corporate management of the International Secretariat of Amnesty International.

**ABOUT YOU**

You are an expert on the human rights context in the region, with a strong background in managing impactful programs, possessing impressive political judgement and proven leadership skills and experience. You are likely to come to us from a similar senior role with another human rights organization and will have first-hand knowledge of the Americas region, specifically with lived and work experience in the continent. The proven ability to get the best out of people is vital too, whether that is through coaching, mentoring, capacity building or training.

Having worked in a similar leadership role in a complex human rights organization, you be adept in managing cross-functional, multi-cultural teams; and you will know how to adjust priorities, hit deadlines and adapt to fast-changing political situations. You have excellent external representational skills. Above all, you have the collaborative and creative approach needed to generate human rights agendas that resonate and get results.

You will have excellent written and verbal Spanish and English, and preferably Portuguese language skills.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Oversee the management of the IS Americas regional structure, ensuring effective, cohesive working across multiple locations, including remote-working staff.
- Oversee Amnesty International's research, advocacy, campaigns, human rights education, and communications strategies related to the Americas, including the development of its digital assets.
- Be accountable for the duty of care of staff, including where necessary, the development of internal polices and standards in relation to security, health and safety, and human resources, with the support of other managers in Americas regional office.
- Oversee the development and effective implementation of human rights initiatives by teams in the Americas regional office (involving research, advocacy, campaigns, communications, and fundraising) in line with globally agreed priorities.

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Proven experience of working in a key leadership role in a complex organization and managing a cross-functional and multi-cultural team across multiple locations, coaching them toward new ways of working.
- Ability to inspire and motivate others, ensuring delivery under pressure while building collaboration.
- Ability to lead and manage staff and financial resources including setting, managing and monitoring plans and budgets.
- Proven ability to work under pressure including coping with deadlines, multiple tasks and competing demands.
