We are seeking a senior-level Cloud Automation Engineer to join our Database Engineering team and drive automation standards across on-premise and cloud database platforms. This role focuses heavily on CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native tooling to enable reliable, scalable database deployments across AWS and GCP environments.
The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor who can act as an automation SME, solve complex problems, advise teams on best practices, and mentor junior engineers while supporting large-scale hybrid cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as an SME for automation tooling supporting database platforms in AWS, GCP, and hybrid environments
- Design, develop, and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins following security and industry best practices
- Build and maintain infrastructure automation using Terraform
- Develop automated workflows using Python, JSON, Linux shell, cloud CLIs, and serverless tools (AWS Lambda)
- Support planning, architecture, and implementation of database automation standards
- Lead or contribute to proof-of-concepts for new automation and database technologies
- Serve as an escalation point for automation-related operational issues and provide RCA for critical incidents
- Maintain standards documentation and follow change management processes
- Collaborate in an Agile team environment and actively improve platform reliability and efficiency
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to skill development across the team
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 7+ years of experience with CI/CD and automation tools (Jenkins, Terraform, Git)
- 3+ years of hands-on AWS cloud experience (Aurora, RDS, DynamoDB a plus)
- Strong experience with Git/Bitbucket and CI/CD pipeline management
- Experience with cloud monitoring tools (AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, GCP Operations)
- Solid understanding of database architecture and automation practices
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Python scripting and Linux shell automation
- Cloud-native automation using AWS CLI and Lambda
- Experience leveraging AI tools in code development
- AWS, GCP, or Terraform certifications
