About the Role

As a Civil Geotechnical Engineer at DEPCOM POWER, INC, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of structural steel supports, foundation systems, general arrangement diagrams, drainage plans, and detail drawings for our solar and energy projects. You will participate in the design of equipment foundation pads to support inverters, transformers, sectionalizing cabinets, and other electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of site development and stabilization plans to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to write scopes of work and work specifications for geotechnical-related surveys.
  • Develop and review project geotechnical engineering reports and related surveys to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensure site-specific loading of all proposed solar sites are designed against AHJ local ordinance and ASCE loading requirements.
  • Provide RFI construction support to all solar projects in parallel and manage consultants to ensure timely completion.
  • Work with procurement to generate equipment technical specifications and material requisitions to ensure equipment meets prime contracts requirements and engineering standards.
  • Develop structural engineering scopes of work based on state or AHJ standards.
  • Participate in contractual exhibit reviews to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate post-mapping deliverables with outside consultants for all projects.
  • Assist in developing procedures, processes, and standards related to structural engineering.
  • Oversee engineering activities and deliverables during varying stages of design and construction on multiple sites across the country.
  • Participate in discipline cross-checks to ensure accuracy and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in civil engineering or equivalent with professional registration (Cedula Profesional - SEP) in Mexico.
  • Specialization in geotechnics with a strong understanding of structural design principles.
  • 6+ years of experience designing for infrastructure projects, including static and dynamic design.
  • Proficiency in civil design software, including AutoCAD, Civil3D, or similar.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles for analysis and design.
  • Familiarity with international codes, such as ASCE, AISC, ACI, etc.
  • Ability to travel to the US during short periods (valid passport and visa).
  • Valid driving license.
  • Fluent in English oral and written communication.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Strong experience participating in electrical power systems or solar projects.
  • Previous experience using Lpile.
  • Experience in soils with caves and karst.
  • Previous experience in TDEM or similar surveys.
  • HDD design review, including the use of cavity expansion model.
  • Proven experience of accomplishment with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve construction and engineering issues.
  • PE Engineer registration (Canada or US).
