Data Governance Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Governance Specialist to join our team at Hewlett Packard. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to work in a dynamic environment, where they can contribute their expertise and passion for data governance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Quality and Integrity: Ensure that data across systems is accurate, consistent, and complete by implementing quality checks and validation processes.
  • Data Governance: Assist in developing and enforcing data governance policies, standards, and practices, maintaining data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and other documentation to support data governance.
  • Data Security and Compliance: Ensure that data handling complies with relevant regulations and organizational policies, monitoring access controls and data usage to prevent unauthorized access and data breaches.
  • Data Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire data lifecycle, including creation, storage, usage, archival, and deletion processes, defining and enforcing retention policies to manage data storage and ensure timely disposal of obsolete data.
  • Data Stewardship and Education: Serve as the point of contact for data stewardship within the organization, providing guidance and support to departments on data management best practices, conducting training sessions and workshops to promote data literacy and proper data handling procedures.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with data analysts, data engineers, business users, and IT to address data needs and challenges, communicating data governance initiatives and updates to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in data management, data governance, data quality, or related roles, preferably with data governance frameworks and tools.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles and best practices, excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, strong communication and interpersonal skills, project management skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Salary Range:

$90,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on experience.
