Job Overview


This Cloud Storage Infrastructure Engineer role is part of SAP's Global Cloud Infrastructure and Delivery, central to SAP's cloud success. The PlusOne Data Management Engineering team provides infrastructure and operational support for global-scale cloud storage systems.


We operate these highly scalable and secure cloud infrastructures around the clock, leveraging technologies primarily from leading storage vendors to support various cloud environments. Our team collaborates with all cloud units, both internally and externally, providing technical storage solutions and expertise.



Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is between $120,000 to $180,000 depending on location and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.



Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update NetApp Enterprise storage systems to ensure high performance, capacity, and security.
  • Configure and optimize Ceph storage infrastructure for peak performance.
  • Handle storage provisioning and development within the Ceph and enterprise storage environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to performance or reliability across all the storage systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement of Ops services in terms of process design, tool advancement, better operational efficiency, reduced TCO, support quality, and enhanced customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure efficient integration of the storage systems with other infrastructures.
  • Use DevOps practices to automate recurring storage administration tasks.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) processes, adhering to best practices for IaC development.
  • Document system changes or updates and provide training to other team members.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends to introduce relevant features or advancements in the organization's storage systems.
  • Provide on-call support to resolve operational issues.


Requirements and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent education.
  • Minimum 8 years experience with technical storage expertise in a Storage and IT customer-facing role.
  • In-depth knowledge of storage concepts and architectures, specifically with NetApp Storage infrastructure.
  • Experience with CEPH managing and operating an object storage footprint.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IT processes and best practices related to backup and recovery, NAS/SAN, and object technologies.
  • A willingness to work in a team environment, focusing on supporting enterprise SAN, NAS, and Object infrastructure through design development, tiering, installation, configuration, and maintenance planning.
  • Fast learning capabilities and the ability to work independently, with strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, motivation, exceptional customer service, project management, and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in the DevOps framework, and familiarity with tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Jira, and Prometheus, as well as Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with operating and managing Kubernetes clusters, ensuring their high availability and overall health.
  • Ability to use scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Golang to automate repetitive tasks and improve workflows.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Knowledge of OpenStack and backup and recovery solutions is an advantage.
