Job Summary:
The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for purchasing raw materials and coordinating production planning for the construction hardware production line at Belden Inc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchase raw materials from external suppliers based on Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Pull System requirements.
- Expedite and follow up on component requirements from suppliers.
- Develop and implement daily production schedules based on component availability, order priorities, production line capacity, and assembly rates.
- Negotiate better delivery times with suppliers.
- Resolve quality rejections with suppliers.
- Collaborate with the Accounts Payable team to resolve invoice issues with suppliers.
- Conduct daily meetings with the production team to coordinate priorities and adjust production scheduling.
- Monitor and implement actions to maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as On-Time Delivery, Past Due Backlog, and Inventory Turns.
- Perform monthly reviews and analysis of demand and component availability to forecast monthly production and adjust safety stock levels.
- Establish a process to provide quick and accurate promise dates to customer service representatives based on component receipt dates and production rates.
- Generate daily Excel and SAP reports.
- Participate in teleconference meetings with the USA team to discuss production and shipping dates.
- Support continuous improvement projects, such as Material Planning and Production Planning (MPS) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) kaizen events.
- Develop and execute ISO 9000 control plans.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Administration.
- At least 1 year of experience in purchasing and production planning related positions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, preferably SAP.
