About the Role

The Patient Advocacy Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing an integrated patient advocacy strategy for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and other rare diseases. This role will involve building and maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders, including patient advocacy groups, healthcare professionals, and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive patient advocacy strategy that aligns with Biogen's business objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including patient advocacy groups, healthcare professionals, and industry partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Public Affairs, Patient Advocacy, and Medical Affairs, to ensure alignment and effective execution of patient advocacy initiatives.
  • Provide strategic counsel and support to the Patient Centricity team in Latin America, ensuring that patient advocacy engagement plans are executed effectively.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in patient advocacy, and apply this knowledge to inform strategy and decision-making.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in advocacy roles, communications, or corporate affairs, with a focus on internal and external communications in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge of patient access environments and healthcare systems, as well as a strong understanding of rare disease patient environments.
  • English proficiency is required, with any additional languages being a valuable asset.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with 3 days per week spent in the office.
