As a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the department in achieving operational excellence, integrity, and enthusiasm. Your focus will be on driving continuous improvement and innovation, working closely with the Test and Quality Engineering leads and the Manufacturing Shift Lead to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and execute plans effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the Manufacturing Engineers and Machine Support Engineers, coordinating day-to-day activities to support the manufacturing plan.
- Display expert knowledge of the corporate Manufacturing Engineering environment and share information with the Manufacturing Engineering function.
- Drive efficiencies in current technical systems, manage the development of new technical systems, and support the Engineering Manager in evaluating equipment needs.
- Support the Engineering Manager with labor forecasting and skills needs, undertake technology benchmarking, and drive "best-in-class" engineering solutions.
- Lead and manage the Manufacturing Engineering Function, driving a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement throughout the team.
Agree clear performance metrics, review progress continuously, and prepare for and perform informal 1-to-1s and annual appraisals. Identify training and development needs, agree individual development plans, and provide coaching to facilitate individual excellence.
Team Performance ManagementDrive motivation levels within the Manufacturing Engineering function, drive consistency of approach and performance, and ensure an effective forum for the exchange of ideas and information exists within the team. Review absence profiles and employee turnover, facilitate coaching for Manufacturing Engineers and Machine Technicians, and build and maintain effective customer relationships.
External CustomersSupport Business Development by assessing customer needs, providing effective tools and evaluation strategies, and driving the Manufacturing Engineering function to provide improved business solutions to existing customers.
Internal CustomerProactively identify internal customer needs, drive an "internal customer focus" mindset within Engineering teams, and effectively cascade functional and business information and expectations. Drive continuous improvement in areas of cost, quality, and delivery, and create a continuous improvement culture throughout the Manufacturing Engineering team.
