About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Concept Design Engineer to join our team at HELLA Automotive Mexico S.A. de C.V. in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop innovative device designs for development projects, ensuring they meet customer requirements and technical specifications.
  2. Collaborate with customers to clarify and define design requirements, analyzing design expenditure and identifying areas for improvement.
  3. Work closely with project managers to agree and follow up on targets related to quality, costs, and timing, taking into account existing processes and methods.
  4. Define, plan, coordinate, and monitor design tasks within the device design process, using prescribed methods and systems, as needed.
  5. Participate in the integration of internal and external services, considering economic, qualitative, and scheduling aspects, in cooperation with superiors.
  6. Contribute to the implementation of defined escalation scenarios when deviations from targets occur in device design, presenting alternative solutions.
  7. Ensure that defined technical standards are observed within the context of design.
  8. Collaborate in the agreement of product concepts and technological alternatives for Preliminary Development and Production Technology.
  9. Prepare design solutions for complete devices, assemblies, and components, taking into account technical and economic aspects.
  10. Develop performance specifications based on existing requirement specifications.
  11. Work out design drafts based on CAD data provided by customers, considering device design, assemblies, and parts, and taking technical and economic aspects into account.
  12. Draw up design solutions, considering functional, material-related, technical production, and economical aspects, and select designs for detailing.
  13. Agree new or changed designs over the whole design process with involved departments, such as Process Planning, Quality Planning, Design, and Laboratory, as needed.
  14. Implement and arrange detailing work for devices, assemblies, and parts, preparing necessary 3D documents.
  15. Select materials and standards to be used, specify tolerances, and check drawings.
  16. Prepare the (design) FMEA for the complete device, taking customer requirements into account.
  17. Arrange for tests (mechanical, mechatronic, photometric, thermal) on sample devices, integrating results into the design.
  18. Continually prepare, interpret, and implement relevant technical information from internal and external positions, as needed.
  19. Arrange for designs to be checked in terms of industrial property rights.
  20. Participate in the preparation of preliminary calculations, as needed.
  21. Contribute to the specification of tests to be carried out, in cooperation with Quality Planning, taking internal, customer-specified, and legal requirements into account.
  22. Specify tolerances on geometries and implement analyze projects using simulation templates.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Professional experience in a related field, preferably with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • More than 5 years of job-related experience.
  • Additional knowledge and skills in systematic design, quality management, project management, CAD, and business management.
  • Good knowledge of English.
