SGI Global LLC is in search of a fluent Spanish-speaking Vetting Unit Support Specialist to provide essential assistance to the Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) in Mexico City, Mexico. This role demands professional and administrative support services aimed at facilitating the U.S. Foreign Assistance Program in Mexico.


  • Must be a Mexican Citizen or Third Country National.
  • Fluency in Spanish at FSI level 4/4.
  • Proficiency in English at FSI level 3/3.
  • A Bachelor's degree in international relations, criminal justice, law enforcement, social sciences, or an associate degree with five (5) years of relevant experience from an accredited institution; alternatively, ten (10) years of related experience in the justice sector, law enforcement, international development, international affairs, or public administration.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in an administrative role within a professional environment.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities, teamwork orientation, and capacity to perform under significant time constraints while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Experience in multi-layered government agencies, non-governmental organizations, or private sector enterprises.
  • Ability to successfully pass a U.S. Embassy RSO security background check.
  • Competence in engaging effectively with senior U.S. and Government of Mexico officials.
  • Experience in drafting and preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position is based in Mexico City, Mexico, with potential travel to various locations in Mexico, the United States, and other countries.
  • Assist the INL Leahy Vetting Unit Liaison with primary responsibilities, including ensuring compliance with the Leahy law across INL's programs.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on Mexican law and develop a thorough understanding of the functions and organizations of the Government of Mexico that may participate in INL and U.S. embassy programs.
  • Support cases involving individuals, government units, or agencies with credible evidence of gross violations of human rights (GVHR) to assess their eligibility for U.S. government assistance.
  • This position description does not encompass all duties required of the incumbent; additional responsibilities may be assigned in accordance with the needs of INL.
