About the Role

Nasdaq is seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial and licensing agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and review complex commercial and licensing agreements, including data, content, indexes, and technology transactional agreements.
  • Work closely with sales, operations, and product teams to ensure company objectives are met.
  • Provide legal guidance and support to our internal businesses and operations around the world, including licensing, technology, and commercial legal advice.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulations that impact Nasdaq products and services and provide guidance to the team.
  • Represent the company's positions in commercial matters, with minimal supervision from senior lawyers.

Requirements

  • Law degree (e.g., Juris Doctor degree).
  • At least 4-6 years of experience, preferably at a top law firm and/or in-house.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating license agreements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of disciplines across multiple regions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects and clients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the legal and business aspects of licensing data, including regulated data, alternative data, indexes, financial information, software, and/or technology products and services.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating contracts for complex commercial transactions.
  • Ability to analyze complex contracts and effectively communicate with internal clients.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property and data privacy/data security.
