About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Big Data Engineer to join our Analytics Tooling team at Zillow.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in big data technologies, including Java or Python, and experience with front-end frameworks like React/Vue.js. They will be responsible for participating in the architecture, implementation, and operations of tools and processes for gaining insights from Terabytes of data.

The role involves collaborating with analysts, product managers, and data scientists to understand their analytical needs and drive technical solutions. The successful candidate will also be responsible for applying a DevOps approach to continuously drive value for our end users while balancing support burden.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the architecture, implementation, and operations of tools and processes for gaining insights from Terabytes of data.
  • Collaborate with analysts, product managers, and data scientists to understand their analytical needs and drive technical solutions.
  • Apply a DevOps approach to continuously drive value for our end users while balancing support burden.
  • Research and pioneer the adoption and use of new technologies within Zillow.
  • Drive process improvements that affect hundreds of internal Zillow users.
Requirements
  • A degree (BS+) in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience with building and maintaining full-stack applications.
  • Strong background in Java or Python.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks like React/Vue.js.
  • History of leading projects independently at scale (company/org wide).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and passionate about collaborating across organizational boundaries.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (both written and spoken).
  • Must be authorized to work in Mexico.
