About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Engineer Process Development to join our team at BD. As a key member of our Intelligent Automation team, you will be responsible for developing site-specific Intelligent Automation roadmaps, designing and implementing process optimization strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop site-specific Intelligent Automation roadmaps, inclusive of digital solutions, machine learning, and commonality of technical solutions across sites.
  • Design and implement process optimization strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle time, and improve product quality.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing site teams to conduct detailed analysis and evaluation of existing manufacturing processes, identifying areas for improvement and recommending technological solutions.
  • Design and execute laboratory experiments, pilot-scale studies, and technology transfer activities.
  • Manage external contractors and vendors for process development and technology transfer projects.
  • Develop and implement playbooks for implementation and replication of intelligent automation technology solutions.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve process-related issues, improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
  • Maintain strong relationships with counterparts in Manufacturing/Operations, business units, Global Integrated Engineering, BD Excellence, Supply Chain, Quality, and Finance.
  • Provide mentoring and building of engineering capabilities to support the continuous evolution of Intelligent automation technology.

Requirements

  • BS Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Computer engineering/Software Systems
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible engineering experience in manufacturing engineering, Automation design and development, technology transfer, assessment of product manufacturability, industrial engineering, and project engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Intelligent Automation solutions and digital Transformations, including machine learning, Vision, controls engineering, AMR's, Cobots/Robotics, AI, GenAI, and Data analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques, lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and statistical analysis.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex process issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling the ability to influence decisions based on sound rationale.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Computer engineering/Software Systems
  • Project Management Training and/or Certification
  • Industry 4.0 Training and/or Certification
  • Proficient in process analysis, process modelling and simulation software, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with process improvement tools and methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Knowledge of automation and control systems, such as SCADA and PLC.
