Job Overview

As a Pediatric Medical Documentation Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient records. Your primary responsibilities will include:



  • Preparing for patient visits by reviewing records prior to the appointment, including the reason for the visit and medical history.
  • Verifying GAP Checker metrics and ensuring compliance.
  • Alerting medical assistants about triage protocols and care gaps.
  • Establishing a conversation with patients to accurately document medical information, including chief complaints, histories of present illness, medications, medical history, allergies, hospitalizations, surgeries, family medical history, and social history.
  • Adding templates as required for HPI, ROS, examination, and well visits.
  • Changing the status of the visit to ready for the provider.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • Excellent documentation skills, including the ability to accurately and completely document patient medical histories, understand provider instructions, and document patient medical information.
  • Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
  • The ability to multitask and work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Competence to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure according to HIPAA standards.
  • Experience with medical terminology.
  • Excellent computer and phone skills.
  • Impeccable verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Willingness to make a one-year commitment to the role.
  • Ability to travel as required for duties or training.


Education and Experience

We are seeking candidates with:



  • Medical knowledge.
  • Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent redaction skills.
  • The ability to establish a conversation in English and Spanish.


Orientation/Training

New hires will receive:



  • Appropriate educational materials and training.
  • A one-week training program.

Estimated Salary

The estimated salary for this role is $55,000-$70,000 per year, based on location and experience.
