Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

The HVAC Release Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and validation of automotive HVAC units and airflow loop components. The selected candidate will ensure that these components meet performance standards and will collaborate with various functional teams including IP, hard trim, BIW, Aero/Thermal, Engine Cooling, PDO, and suppliers. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing source packages, specifications, requirements, and change notices.
  • Managing supplier relationships to align with program timelines and deliverables.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive DVP&R for components and subsystems.
  • Supporting component bench testing, simulations, and analyzing test results to implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Leading virtual teams to design and conduct CFD analyses of ducts to achieve optimal airflow performance.
  • Assisting in the pilot build process at the assembly plant for the development and installation of HVAC components.

Required Qualifications

Educational Background

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university.
  • 1-5 years of experience in HVAC and duct design/development; experience in related fields such as Engine Cooling or Aero-Thermal is advantageous.
  • Proficient in PC and MS Office applications, with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Familiarity with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
  • Basic understanding of thermodynamics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in HVAC, PTCs, ducts, and outlets is a plus.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (NX, Catia, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).
  • Basic knowledge in Thermodynamics.
  • Experience in an automotive assembly plant environment.
