Organizational Development

  • The Director of Financial Operations establishes effective tax management in cooperation with tax specialists in HQ and external tax advisors, ensuring that changes in tax legislation and their implications are evaluated well in advance, a regular tax risk assessment is conducted, and day-to-day tax queries are handled in the most cost-efficient way.
Controlling & Commercial
  • The Director of Financial Operations fully complies with the Group Controlling guideline.
  • Designing the system setup to perfectly mirror responsibilities in the organization is crucial.
  • Ensuring timely distribution of financial information (plan & actual) to every budget holder by sending reports, allowing system access, and presenting information in regular meetings is essential.
  • Promoting efficiency in Controlling to minimize time spent on report generation and increase analysis, commenting, and insight-sharing time is vital.
  • The Director of Financial Operations establishes a true bottom-up planning process and develops a local planning calendar based on the group planning timetable, allowing for sufficient review time and feedback cycles.
  • Assuring high forecasting accuracy of business plans, revised estimates, and long-term forecasts by creating an environment where realistic plans are developed is crucial.
  • The Director of Financial Operations supports budget holders during the planning process but challenges input by eliminating reserves and agreeing corrections on too ambitious/conservative plans.
  • Measuring and reviewing the cost/benefit ratio of proposed activities is essential.
  • The Director of Financial Operations sets up a monthly reporting calendar, comments on plan-actual deviations, and agrees on countermeasures to prevent further deviations.

Cash Management & Treasury
  • The Director of Financial Operations complies with all relevant HQ Treasury guidelines.
  • Establishing and maintaining an effective credit risk management, ensuring payment terms are in line with industry standards, assessing customer creditworthiness on a regular basis, setting credit limits and security requirements, implementing an effective collection and dunning process, and avoiding bad debts is essential.
  • Setting up an effective cash management by minimizing working capital needs and proactively transferring surplus cash to the parent company is vital.
  • The Director of Financial Operations aligns all financing (including leasing) and bank selection decisions with the Treasury department in HQ.
  • Ensuring reliable liquidity forecasts are delivered to HQ on time is critical.
  • The Director of Financial Operations carries out return on investment calculations for all proposed investments as per the Investment guideline and ensures a positive return will be achieved.
  • Managing all local insurance topics (cars, claims, and general internal inquiries) according to the guideline and supporting HQ in Enterprise Risk Management calculations is essential.

  • The Director of Financial Operations ensures that all company activities comply with the laws.

  • The Director of Financial Operations establishes and continuously re-assesses an effective Internal Control System to minimize errors, misconduct, or fraud by designing company processes to satisfy the 4 eyes principle, ensuring segregation of duties, and creating awareness about the possibility of fraud.
  • Promoting candid business conduct and establishing a climate of honesty, trust, and loyalty is vital, as well as encouraging a confidential culture of reporting misbehavior.
  • The Director of Financial Operations ensures proper commitment policies and approval levels, as well as contracts for all key service partners across all areas of the business.
Your experience
  • A university degree in Accounting is required.
  • 10-15 years of relevant work experience in Finance functions are necessary.
  • An FMCG background is ideally preferred.
  • Accounting, Audit, or Tax qualification is desirable.
  • Strong People Manager skills (Multilevel Teams) are essential.
  • High analytical and very skilled individuals are preferred.
  • Ability to quickly identify and analyze risks & impacts and able to define alternatives is crucial.
  • Flexibility and a team player attitude are vital.
  • Must be self-motivated, self-directed, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Capable of communicating precisely, effectively, and convincingly based on facts with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good communication and presentation skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Controlling & Financial Management, Accounting (HGB, IFRS), Taxes (incl. International and TP), Commercial & Business Partnership, Treasury, Digitalization, General Legal, and Negotiation Skills is required.
