Job Overview

We are in search of a Senior Manager for IT Strategic Planning to become a vital member of our innovative CIO Team. The ideal candidate will significantly influence the strategic trajectory of our comprehensive IT project portfolio, steering technology and data initiatives while ensuring they align with our overarching business goals and architectural frameworks.

The Senior Manager will report directly to the Director of CIO Portfolio and Programs, working in close collaboration with senior executives, including the VP of CIO Strategy, Operations, and Architecture. This role is crucial for optimizing our IT Portfolio, ensuring it aligns with the strategic objectives of our organization. You will lead and oversee a team of IT Portfolio professionals, guiding the evolution, implementation, and governance of our portfolio standards and processes, which facilitate informed investment decisions across our entire project landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Direct the strategic orientation of the IT portfolio, ensuring effective communication across portfolio teams regarding risk and return, while maintaining alignment with the company's strategic vision.
  • Strategic Planning: Formulate and execute strategic IT plans that resonate with the organization's objectives and priorities.
  • Budget Collaboration: Partner in the annual IT budgeting process, collaborating closely with finance and senior leadership to allocate resources judiciously.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements in portfolio and planning processes within IT, working alongside CIO leaders to create and manage a prioritized roadmap for process maturation initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with key stakeholders to grasp business requirements and translate them into actionable IT initiatives.
  • Team Leadership: Provide direction and mentorship to the IT planning team, cultivating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Progress Monitoring: Oversee and report on the advancement of IT initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with established objectives.
  • Tool Management: Ensure excellence in our portfolio management systems, facilitating seamless integration across processes and tools.
  • Data Insights: Support the Planning team and CIO organization in decision-making through relevant and up-to-date portfolio data insights.
  • Technology Awareness: Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends, offering recommendations for their integration into the organization's IT strategy.
  • Relationship Management: Establish and nurture effective relationships with vendors, partners, and other external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in IT planning, strategic planning, and project management, ideally in a senior capacity.
  • Strong grasp of IT governance frameworks, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset focused on driving results.
  • Proven leadership and team-building capabilities, with a talent for motivating and inspiring others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at engaging with stakeholders at all organizational levels and conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Solid understanding of financial principles related to IT investments, budgeting, and cost modeling.
  • Expertise in project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Lean.
  • Outstanding analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Preferred certifications include Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent.
