Job Summary

Software International is seeking a highly skilled Senior System Administrator to lead our technical team as a Technical Lead. This is a long-term, renewable contract position with our IT consulting client, supporting North American clients on various website and backend infrastructure services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support large-scale production websites and networks, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Maintain vendor relationships for technical infrastructure, including office and website systems.
  • Collaborate with Development Team Leads and Project Management to manage projects, providing final sign-off/approval for release to production.
  • Participate in planning and project discussions with Senior Management, driving technical strategy for various websites.
  • Analyze and assess areas of risk to systems, recommending and implementing changes as necessary.
  • Ensure high levels of systems data security, reporting concerns directly to the Senior System Team Lead.
  • Design and implement systems and network architecture, including capacity planning, hardware, infrastructure, software integration, OS, and software performance tuning.
  • Act as single point of escalation for production issues, interfacing with required resources to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Effectively manage risk, including monitoring, system redundancy, and backups based on business requirements and acceptable risk.
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation to all areas of the company, including Project Management, Sales, Quality Assurance, Accounting, Customer Service, Development, and Systems departments.
  • Perform special tasks and projects company-wide, as assigned by the Team Lead.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
  • Minimum of 2+ years of management/leadership experience in a technology-oriented organization required.
  • Strong background in supporting web servers
  • Well-versed in storage SAN (NFS and iSCSI)
  • Experience with ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Beats, and Logstash)
  • TCP/IP knowledge BGP and OSPF
  • Hands-on experience working with Linux in a Systems Administrative role
  • Hands-on experience working with Advanced Network Administrative role, including routing, switching, and security
  • Exceptional problem determination and creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle
  • Strong documentation and organizational practices
  • Extensive experience with many of the following:
  • MySQL, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • LAN/WAN/VPN setup and troubleshooting
  • Linux-based and other firewall technology
  • Cloud technologies (OpenStack, oVirt, RHEV or similar)
  • Baremetal hardware, SAN, Switching and Load-balancing
  • Backup technologies
  • Systems security
  • Automation systems (Ansible, Puppet or equivalent)
  • Expertise with multiple Web technologies, including but not limited to: HTTP, SSL, DNS, and SMTP protocols.
