Job Description

Job Summary:

The Enterprise Network Security Specialist is a critical role within F5 Global Services, responsible for providing advanced support for Web Application Firewalls (WAF) and Application Firewall Management (AFM) solutions. This position requires a deep understanding of network security, Linux/UNIX, and TCP/IP protocols, as well as experience with troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Tier-3 support for F5 Global Services, handling complex technical issues with minimal supervision.
  • Take ownership of issues and drive them to resolution, working closely with Product Development and Product Management teams.
  • Develop creative solutions to problems and prove them out in a lab environment.
  • Solve complex technical challenges that span the OSI model, including application behavior and software/hardware interactions.
  • Direct interaction with Product Development group on behalf of all external organizations and customers.
  • Work with Product Development and Product Management to ensure products meet customer requirements.
  • Participate in knowledge-share via documentation creation, training, and mentoring.
Work Environment and Technical Acumen:
  • Deep conceptual knowledge of software and networking protocols, including architecture and design.
  • Expert technical knowledge of Linux/UNIX, TCP/IP networks, and protocol analysis using tools like tcpdump, tshark, and Wireshark.
  • Experience with packet manipulation and crafting using tools like hping, scapy, and iptables.
  • Traffic generation and replay using tools like apachebench and tcpreplay.
  • Comfortable with virtualization, encapsulation, and clustered computing environments.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of networking topics and programming/scripting languages.
Qualifications:
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience in network security, Tiered application architectures, and Linux/UNIX.
  • Hold a degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Familiarity with web servers (e.g. Apache, Nginx, Lighttpd, IIS) and SQL databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL).
