Job Summary

The Plant Accountant will play a key role in executing regular month-end close activities, balance sheet accounts reconciliations, and distribution of reports related to our US and Canada plants, specifically in the Inventory/Cost of Sales areas. This individual will report to the Accounting Manager and require significant interaction with other departments, business disciplines, and international operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare manual journal entries with the appropriate support based on US GAAP, demonstrating strong attention to detail when performing calculations and preparing journal entries.
  • Interact with the finance team on the review of month-end journal entries.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations timely and accurately, demonstrating the ability to identify root cause of discrepancies.
  • Prepare and distribute recurring financial reports (daily, weekly, or monthly as required).
  • Demonstrate consistency in following accounting procedures.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Assist with continuous improvements initiatives.

Qualifications
  • BS/BA in accounting required.
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting.
  • Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office, and financial software applications.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish).
  • Confidence in challenging the status quo; always on the lookout for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • The ability to go fast; the desire to help others go faster.
  • Outstanding presentation, reporting, and communication skills.
