About the Role:
The School District of Springfield Township is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Instructional Assistant to support students with disabilities in a special education setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and follow individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities
- Assist teachers in developing and implementing behavioral support plans
- Provide one-on-one support to students with special needs, including physical positioning and assistance with daily living skills
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records
- Participate in meetings to develop and update IEPs and evaluation reports
- Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with students with special needs is preferred
- Must enjoy working with children and be able to relate well within the school community
- Must be considered highly qualified in the state of PA by completing at least one of the listed requirements below:
- a. Have completed at least 2 years of postsecondary study (48 credits) or
- b. Possess an associated degree or higher or
- c. Meet a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a State or local assessment (Paraeducator Credential of Competence)

Terms of Employment:
- 10-month position following the SDST District calendar
- 6.5 hours per day, 186 days per year
- State Police Clearance (Act 34), Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151), FBI Fingerprints (Act 114), School Health Record, and PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release are required for external candidates
