Summary of Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Develop and implement automation strategies that align with Celestica's overarching and site-specific automation objectives.
  • Offer expert guidance in the formulation of adaptable and scalable automation frameworks.
  • Create tools and methodologies to enhance automation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with clients and both internal and external design teams to address specific automation requirements.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Assess all facets of the manufacturing workflow to identify automation opportunities. Generate Requests for Proposals/Quotes for automation projects and oversee all stages of the Project Life Cycle.
  • Facilitate training for regional and site engineering personnel in automation practices.
  • Promote ongoing enhancements of existing automation systems.
  • Address customer automation requirements during New Product Introduction (NPI) and product transitions.
  • Coordinate the design of subsystems and the integration of comprehensive automation systems for designated processes.
  • Serve as an automation consultant to regional engineering teams and clients.
  • Work alongside various automation specialists to provide innovative automation solutions to clients.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient in analyzing and determining automation needs while ensuring deliverables are met through a global network of vendors and internal resources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with effective interpersonal abilities.
  • Compliance with all Health and Safety regulations and protocols.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team setting and actively engage in group discussions.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in integrating third-party automation solutions.
  • Adaptability to fast-paced and dynamic environments.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Project Management experience with a basic understanding of PMBOK methodologies.
  • Knowledge of financial metrics and calculations (ROI, Payback, etc.).

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional travel may be necessary.

Experience and Education

  • At least 5 years of automation experience within the manufacturing sector, ideally in assembly processes.
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience in the manufacturing industry, utilizing tools such as MS Project and/or Smartsheet.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics.
  • PMP project management certification is preferred.
