Summary

Detailed Description

The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Design and implement automation strategies that align with Celestica's global and site-specific objectives. Offer expert advice in establishing adaptable and scalable automation frameworks. Create tools and methodologies to enhance automation initiatives. Collaborate with clients and both internal and external design teams to address specific automation requirements.
Primary Duties: Evaluate all facets of the manufacturing workflow to identify automation opportunities. Prepare Requests for Proposals/Quotes for automation projects and support all stages of the Project Life Cycle. Responsible for training regional and site engineering personnel in automation practices. Promote ongoing enhancements of existing automation systems. Address customer automation requirements during New Product Introduction (NPI) and product transitions. Oversee the design of subsystems and the integration of comprehensive automation systems for targeted processes. Serve as an automation consultant to regional engineering teams and clients. Work alongside various automation specialists to deliver cutting-edge automation solutions to clients.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

MUST HAVE:

Proficient in analyzing and determining automation needs and driving deliverables through a global network of suppliers and internal teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with effective interpersonal abilities. Compliance with all Health and Safety regulations and protocols. Capability to function in a collaborative team environment and actively engage in group discussions. Excellent communication skills. Experience with the integration of third-party automation solutions. Ability to thrive in rapidly changing and dynamic environments. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles. Project Management experience; basic understanding of PMBOK methodologies. Knowledge of financial metrics and calculations (ROI, Payback, etc.).

Physical Demands

Occasional travel may be necessary.

Typical Experience

At least 5 years of automation experience in the manufacturing sector, ideally in assembly processes. A minimum of 5 years of project management experience in the manufacturing field, utilizing tools such as MS Project and/or Smartsheet.

Typical Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics. PMP project management certification is preferred.
