About the Role:
The VFX Concept Artist plays a crucial role in creating detailed visual direction for our VFX team, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and limitations. This position involves developing both static and animated visual elements that contribute significantly to the final in-game effects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Visual Effects Development: Design and illustrate VFX concepts, including magical effects, explosions, special abilities, and environmental phenomena.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the art director, game designers, and animators to ensure VFX are in harmony with the overall artistic vision and gameplay needs.
- Storyboarding: Create storyboards and visual concepts to effectively convey the intended look and feel of the VFX.
- Research and Innovation: Stay informed about industry trends and techniques to enhance the quality and creativity of our VFX.
- Documentation: Produce clear and comprehensive documentation for implemented visual effects, including specifications and best practices for team members.
- Feedback and Refinement: Revise visual effects based on input from the Art Director and other stakeholders to ensure they meet quality benchmarks and enrich the player experience.
- Time Management: Efficiently manage time to meet project milestones and deadlines.
- Team Engagement: Collaborate with fellow artists to proactively address and communicate any quality, technical, or delivery challenges that may arise.
- Punctuality: Regularly present progress updates and participate in meetings and communications as required.
Required Skills:
- Strong artistic and creative skills with a sharp eye for detail, color, composition, and animation, along with proficiency in 2D art fundamentals.
- Ability to create engaging visuals with a solid understanding of motion, animation, scaling, and timing.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry-standard pipelines and workflows.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a talent for articulating ideas clearly and persuasively.
- High proficiency in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in 2D animation is advantageous.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the video game or animation sectors.
