Job Description

Civil Engineering Project Manager at CEMEX is responsible for ensuring compliance with the company's civil engineering guidelines, design criteria, specifications, and standards during project development and execution. The role requires strong leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineers.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Participate in project drafts through preliminary proposal execution for buildings, warehouses, and infrastructure projects.
  2. Develop and finalize project scopes for various civil engineering projects, including building construction, roads, and utilities.
  3. Coordinate the application of civil engineering concepts, applying the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as a base for project development and accounting charge allocation.
  4. Prepare necessary documentation, requests, and comparison charts for hiring detailed engineering services based on engineering department specifications.
  5. Supervise and manage detailed civil engineering work, ensuring adherence to master schedules and resolving any deviations.
  6. Maintain compliance with norms, standards, and design specifications through monitoring and assistance.
  7. Promote continuous updates of civil area specifications.
  8. Develop job concept catalogs for bidding processes and construction hiring.
  9. Provide technical support to the construction department regarding construction situations.
  10. Assist in training and development courses to maintain updated performance.
  11. Request necessary field information from group plants or subsidiaries to ensure project continuity without interfering with new utility installations or upgrades.
  12. Procure all materials and civil services required for projects.
Position Challenges
  1. Ensure compliance with civil engineering guidelines, design criteria, specifications, and standards for project installation, in coordination with the team.
  2. Review, approve, or reject non-compliant civil engineering drawings and documents according to local mandatory codes and/or CEMEX design criteria and standards.
  3. Manage the tendering process for civil engineering and construction, comparing and approving technical comparative analyses.
  4. Cultivate relationships with multidisciplinary, multifunctional, and multicultural engineers and engineering companies during project development.
  5. Maintain compliance of all projects with CEMEX civil engineering design criteria, specifications, and standards.
  6. Contribute to all stages of project development, from engineering to startup.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (90%) and English (90%), with native Spanish desirable.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in civil engineering and project management.
  • 8 years of experience in engineering firms.
Technical Skills
  • CAD, AutoCad general knowledge, Staad Pro, SAP, Robot.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel and relocate.
