Cloud Network Security Engineer Job Description

Cloud Cover LLC is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Network Security Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in safeguarding our cloud network security infrastructure, ensuring that we are compliant with corporate standards while leading essential tasks within our governance forums.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Governance Participation: Actively participate in governance forums and discussions to ensure best practices are followed in cloud network security.
  2. Support governance routines to oversee configurations and their compliance against corporate standards of all network security elements, including firewalls, proxy servers, intrusion prevention systems, VPNs, web application firewalls, and network access control.
  3. Utilize metrics to manage operational activities and risk.
  4. Identify gaps/risks and manage through to remediation within reasonable times.
  5. Maintain ownership and lifecycle of documentation and policies, in alignment with industry best practices.
  6. Participate in the definition and oversee implementation of cloud network configurations to ensure compliance with corporate standards and implement effective security strategies on cloud networks.
  7. Task Leadership: Lead assigned tasks within these forums, effectively coordinating efforts to ensure that operational activities are compliant, auditable, and traceable.
  8. Cloud Security Management: Design, implement, and manage security controls for cloud-based infrastructures, specifically focusing on firewalls and proxy solutions to protect sensitive data.
  9. Threat Assessment: Conduct threat assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential security risks within the cloud environment.
  10. Incident Response: Develop and oversee incident response plans that enable quick recovery from security breaches or network disruptions.
  11. Collaboration: Work closely with the operations and IT teams to integrate security measures seamlessly into daily operations while promoting a culture of security awareness.
  12. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all security protocols, configurations, changes, and incident responses to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with corporate standards.
  13. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all cloud security practices meet both local and international regulatory standards, including GDPR, HIPAA, and others as applicable.
  14. Training and Awareness: Provide training to the operations team on cloud security best practices and ensure that they understand the importance of compliance and accountability in their tasks.
  15. Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest security technologies and trends, continuously seeking to improve our security posture and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in network security, particularly within cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Proficient knowledge of network security technologies, including firewalls, proxies, intrusion detection systems, and VPNs.
  • Familiarity with security standards and frameworks, such as ISO 27001, NIST, or CIS benchmarks.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically about complex security challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Desired Competencies:

  • Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), or similar are a plus.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools to streamline security tasks and enhance efficiency.
  • Experience with security monitoring tools and incident response platforms.
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach to ensuring compliance and security within cloud environments.
