Assistant Cost Manager

At Turner & Townsend, we're passionate about delivering exceptional results for our clients and helping our people realize their potential. As an Assistant Cost Manager, you'll play a crucial role in our industrial and data center construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for all design phases.
  • Monitor and control valuations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in value engineering sessions to optimize project costs.
  • Develop and analyze change orders, ensuring timely and cost-effective implementation.
  • Collaborate with the project team to develop the primary project budget.
  • Establish progress measurement criteria with vendors to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Support the quotation process by responding to questions from services and materials proponents.
  • Produce cash flow forecasts for internal and client purposes, ensuring informed decision-making.
  • Quantify materials and labor for all phases of a project, ensuring accurate cost projections.
  • Prepare cost-benefit analyses to inform project decisions.
  • Review and revise the project budget after design packages are issued by the technical team.
  • Contribute to the creation of the recommendation report, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
  • Participate in weekly project and departmental meetings to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Issue weekly progress reports on project costs, including forecasting reimbursable expenses.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Degree-qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveyor, Engineering, or Architecture.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar roles, with a strong understanding of construction costs and project documentation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret commercial and technical project documentation.
  • Proficiency in a range of IT packages, including Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of the construction process, with the ability to negotiate and apply skills effectively.
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Keen to pursue personal development needs and maintain up-to-date knowledge, with a commitment to RICS membership or recent chartering.
  • Conversant in all aspects of quantity surveying, with experience in utilizing software systems such as CostX, CATO, and BIM Measure.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience in utilizing AutoCAD.
