Job Description

Tca Technologies Inc is seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented Automation Systems Engineer to design, develop, and integrate factory automation equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field, and experience with automation systems, PLC programming, and electrical design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop automation systems, including control and power circuits, and panel layout.
  • Program and implement HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems.
  • Design and develop SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
  • Configure and program servo motion systems.
  • Design and develop industrial networks, including Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, Profinet, DeviceNet, Profibus, and RS-232.
  • Assist with machine start-ups, including I/O checks, device setup, program upload, safety system checks, robot teaching, and machine test and debugging.
  • Troubleshoot electrical controls and mechanical mechanisms.
  • Provide instructions for other controls personnel, electrical panel builders, and machine assemblers.
  • Initiate preliminary PHSR's (Pre-Start Health and Safety Review) with Safety Engineers as required.
  • Complete system documentation, including drawing updates, operation manuals, electronic settings, and SR&ED claims.
  • Travel to customer sites to assist in machine start-up, operator training, maintenance training, and machine service as required.
  • Support Sales & Applications personnel by providing estimated time and materials required for jobs under consideration.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • University or College degree/diploma in Mechatronics, Electromechanical, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, System Design, Controls Technology, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4-5 years' experience in system/controls development, design, and integration of factory automation equipment.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and electrical ladder diagrams.
  • Thorough understanding of PLC's, robotics, control systems, and machine operation.
  • Familiarity with design standards, including CE, CSA, NFPA, SEMI, EN, and others.
  • Solid understanding of electrical design fundamentals, including power calculations, wiring, fuse sizing, and type selection.
  • Solid understanding of safety systems design.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and a high level of self-motivation.
  • Strong logical and methodical reasoning capabilities.
  • Desire to keep abreast of leading-edge technology.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Candidates must have a valid passport and driver's license for seamless travel through Canada, the USA, Mexico, Europe, New Zealand, and China.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends when required.
