Job Description:

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for reviewing project documentation, including budget, cost analysis, entitlements, design brief, design and engineering documents, project and construction schedule, procurement strategy, etc. to provide an assessment on project feasibility, risk identification and management as required by the client. This will involve providing timely and appropriate professional advice throughout the project lifecycle.

The project manager will be responsible for interfacing with the client, stewarding their interests in front of contractors and other consultants at all project stages. This will include performing periodic site visits and inspections, attending project coordination meetings, evaluating funding and cash draws to objectively identify project schedule or budget risk factors.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 15 years' experience as a project manager and 5 years working as a senior project manager for industrial construction projects. They will have knowledge of best construction management practices in Mexico from permitting to commissioning, and construction or project management bilingual experience is highly preferred. Experience in management of General Contractors procurement, bidding, and contracting process, entitlements, and utilities processes is also required. An engineering or architectural degree with chartered status is essential, and fluency in English and Spanish at a working level is necessary to lead meetings, prepare reports, and written communication, do presentations, and effectively engage with clients and consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project documentation to assess project feasibility and risk
  • Provide timely and appropriate professional advice throughout the project lifecycle
  • Interface with the client and steward their interests in front of contractors and other consultants
  • Perform periodic site visits and inspections, attend project coordination meetings, and evaluate funding and cash draws
  • Manage risks and control the risk register, manage risk workshops as needed
  • Identify factors that influence construction costs and monitor and report on this data
  • Issue reports as agreed with the client
  • Review requests for payment, advocate on the part of the client during disputes, disagreements, modifications, or change orders
  • Prepare, update, and manage the project schedule and project milestones
  • Analyze, track, and effectively manage critical milestone activities to avoid schedule slip
  • Track and ensure equipment meet the project schedule
  • Review final invoices, payment applications, retention payments

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience as a project manager and 5 years working as a senior project manager for industrial construction projects
