Job Summary



The Demand Planner will be responsible for developing and maintaining accurate and timely demand plans across multiple levels of aggregation, utilizing statistical models within ERP systems and collaborating with stakeholders from Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance teams. This role will also oversee supply planning activities to optimize inventory and capacity from Johnson Controls' factories and 3rd party suppliers, ensuring the timely execution of phase-in/phase-out plans globally.



Key Responsibilities




  • Develop and maintain accurate and timely demand plans, minimizing forecast variability and optimizing inventory levels
  • Evaluate and compare demand plans against top-down business objectives, identifying gaps and areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve quality by studying trends, seasonality, and historical performance
  • Develop and refine demand planning performance metrics, including forecast accuracy, bias, and revenue forecast accuracy
  • Communicate and gain alignment with stakeholders to improve quality and reduce forecast variability
  • Develop specific forecast models for SKUs to achieve revenue plans, customer service levels, and phase-in/phase-out plans
  • Ensure alignment of the consensus demand plan with product roadmaps, sales outlooks, financial integrated reconciliations, and operational targets
  • Utilize current demand planning systems to create the best statistical forecast possible using established processes
  • Drive root cause analysis to understand demand plan errors in prior periods and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Define and implement inventory stocking level strategies, creating and managing strategic inventory entitlements for key products, customers, and regions
  • Utilize fact-based approaches to challenge assumptions inconsistent with brand strategies and highlight risks and opportunities
  • Create a robust planning function to support continuous improvement in the total supply chain


Requirements




  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field with an undergraduate statistical analysis or engineering focus
  • Over 5 years of experience in demand planning for an OEM in a global manufacturing and distribution environment with an understanding of B2B, B2C, and supply chain management
  • Strong analytical and data skills, including Excel, Access, and SQL
  • Comprehensive knowledge of operations, forecasting technology, systems, market research data, supply chain management, and constraints management
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate with business stakeholders
  • Ability to build relationships with key internal and external customers based on trust and confidence
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities with competing demands
  • Strong analytical, data processing, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in process formulation and improvement
  • Proficiency in working in a fast-paced, complex, dynamic, multicultural business environment
  • Data gathering and quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including business process metrics and measures linking to business KPIs
  • Deep knowledge and experience in forecasting, supply chain planning, inventory control and management practices and procedures, customer service, ERP, and IBP
  • Experience applying statistical models and analytics


Preferred Qualifications




  • Systems/ERP knowledge – SAP/JDE/Oracle
  • Planning tools experience – Logility/JDA
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • APICS, CPIM, CPSM, or CPF certification
  • Six Sigma Lean Expert
