Role Overview: Quality Project Engineer
- Accountable for achieving quality performance objectives and fulfilling customer and quality-related targets for new initiatives.
- Conduct statistical analyses, prepare presentations, and perform data evaluations to monitor, assess, and communicate information regarding new products during the introduction phase.
- Execute capability assessments for new products and processes.
- Determine customer specifications for both new and modified products.
- Facilitate the problem-solving process for significant internal challenges.
- Evaluate risks associated with customer concerns at critical stages of product development.
- Report and analyze reliability testing outcomes for new products, ensuring completion of the Quality Plan for all new initiatives.
- Communicate the development status of new products concerning quality milestones.
- Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) efforts for product transitions, collaborating with cross-functional teams and employing quality tools.
- Contribute to various quality systems and activities, including Manufacturing Sample Lot Quantities, PPAPs, Control Plans, P-FMEA, capability studies, SPC, Gage R&R, and preventive quality measures at manufacturing sites.
- Utilize methodologies such as root cause analysis through 8D problem-solving, design of experiments, and poka-yoke to maintain or enhance quality levels at receiving facilities.
- Engage in validation testing plans, determining quantity, duration, and type of tests for each product family in conjunction with product engineering.
- Monitor and report on product quality performance, highlighting impacts by product family or SKU.
- Implement and communicate quality initiatives at manufacturing locations.
Candidate Profile: Quality Project Engineer
- Previous experience as a Quality Engineer or Project Quality Engineer.
- Proven track record of customer engagement in launching products with major automotive manufacturers.
- Familiarity with Product Delivery Processes and associated tools.
- Proficient in problem-solving methodologies, particularly 8D.
- Knowledge of ISO TS standards.
- Experience with APQP and PPAP methodologies.
- Ability to read GD&T.
- Familiarity with core quality tools.
- Experience in designing and manufacturing fixtures and gauges.
- Moderate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; openness to learning company and customer systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in English is essential.
- Minimum five years of experience in the automotive or related industry.
- At least three years of experience in Quality, Program Management, Engineering, or Operations.
- Desirable experience in assembly operations and/or painting.
- Project leadership experience in a matrix organization is advantageous.
