About the Role
nVent is seeking a highly skilled Import/Export Compliance Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local and international legislation and policies related to import and export activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain Import and Export compliance policies and procedures in accordance with local and international legislation and policies.
- Identify and ensure accurate filing of Customs documents to comply with existing tariff and non-tariff regulations applicable to duty deferral programs operations (IMMEX program).
- Settle level compliance of temporary imports of machinery and equipment in regards to legal entry, stay, location, and use of such goods.
- Verify the right Incoterm rule prevailing on every foreign trade transaction is declared on customs documents to prevent any issues related to the valuation of goods for customs purposes.
- Keep strict control of the term of stay of all temporary imports of goods and track documents used to import raw materials, machinery, and equipment.
- Supervise Customs documents for transfers of temporary imported goods made to another company operating an IMMEX program are filed by the Customs Broker and the counterpart on time.
- Determine security protocols in the supply chain are observed under the C-TPAT standards.
- Ensure Tariff classification numbers listed on the certificates of origin to be used on the importation of goods into Mexico match with the ones declared on customs entry documents prepared by the Mexican Customs Broker.
- Plan for and lead capital and expense budgets, department staffing, and training needs, and computer-based or other physical distribution projects.
- Stay updated on changes and developments in import and export laws and regulations, and advise management and relevant departments on the impact and implications of such changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Business/Commerce, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or International Trade or related field (B.A., B.S.) or equivalent required.
- 8+ years' experience in Import/Export Compliance Management.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
- Skill in process management, planning, and organizational change.
- Validated skill in identifying root causes of problems/issues by asking probing questions and the capability to develop recommendations for resolution.
- Skill in using personal computers, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Previous experience implementing quality system documentation.
- Skills to build and maintain effective work relationships internally and externally (customers, suppliers, etc.).
- Ability to build a sense of shared purpose and vision.
- Ability to negotiate by collaborating with others to arrive at a conclusion using compromise, persuasion, influence, rationale, and diplomacy.
- Consistent track record to apply strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with people at all levels within the organization and outside the organization.
- Ability to adapt to constantly evolving business circumstances and have the capacity to thrive in a constantly evolving business environment.
- Certification in import and export compliance, such as the Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or the Certified Export Specialist (CES), is a plus.
