About the Role
RHI Magnesita is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Engineer Jr. to join our team in Mexico.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the site in driving best practices in our health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities, and ensuring that all facilities are in compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site projects and initiatives to eliminate occupational health and safety risks through the development of proactive programs.
- Provide on-site support for incident management and reporting, and assist in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Monitor and ensure legal compliance, identifying gaps and developing appropriate policies, while partnering with local sites to eliminate potential opportunities.
- Drive transformation and live the safety culture, aligning with global and regional resources, both internal and external to the company, to utilize outside expertise and new pilot programs.
- Ensure EHS regulatory schedules are followed in the plant, provide training and technical advice on safety and environmental protection, and educate and help continue to develop H&S knowledge within the manufacturing plant.
Requirements
- 2 to 4 years' experience in a safety and health role.
- Education/training in occupational safety, environmental, or relevant safety certification.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
- Knowledge of worker's compensation, experience and practice of safety methodology or safety process knowledge, and experience facilitating critical conversations to develop win/win solutions in high-stress, fast-paced, and complex structures.
- Professional designation (CSP, ASP, GSP, CIH) is preferred, and knowledge in SAP is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills, and ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
