We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team at McCain, Inc. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive cost analysis related to materials, labor, and overhead costs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct cost analysis for manufacturing operations, including materials, labor, and overhead costs.
  2. Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Routings for accuracy.
  3. Review costs and variance trends.
  4. Establish labor and overhead rates.
  5. Able to research complex transactions.
  6. Responsible for account reconciliation of physical inventories and cycle counts.
  7. Prepare periodic inventory reserves reconciliation.
  8. Document policies, procedures, and workflows.
  9. Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
  10. Review Capital Expenditure (Capex) requests and capitalize assets as required.
  11. Implement tracking system for existing and new assets.
  12. Assist in month-end and year-end closing by analyzing inventory and preparing supplemental reports as needed.
  13. Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company procedures.
Requirements
  1. Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum 7-10 years hands-on cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  2. Must be advanced in Excel with the ability to analyze a large database.
  3. ERP system experience (SAP knowledge beneficial).
  4. Microsoft Dynamics experience helpful, but not required.
  5. Requires thorough knowledge of cost accounting methods, principles, and practices. Must have the ability to apply this creatively in situations where procedures may not be well defined.
  6. Requires a broad understanding of manufacturing operations.
  7. Must be able to compare actual costs with estimate or standard costs and analyze variances.
  8. Requires tact, good judgment, and a highly developed sense of responsibility.
  9. Must be familiar with Material Requirements Planning (MRP), BOMs, work orders, and related cost accounting activities.
  10. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  11. Occasional travel to our plant in Tijuana as needed. Approximately 5-10% travel.
  12. Must have a valid passport. Sentry or Global entry pass helpful.
Physical Conditions / Requirements
  1. No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
  2. Occasional – Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
  3. Job frequently requires sitting and handling objects with hands.
  4. Job occasionally requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
  5. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and or electronically.
  6. Ability to travel by car to Tijuana, Mexico.
