About the Position

We're seeking a highly experienced Tax Controller to join our Accounting team and play a critical role in achieving Bright's goals by aligning the Accounting team with the company's priorities. You will oversee all aspects of the organization's tax planning, compliance, and reporting. You will also develop and implement effective tax strategies to minimize the company's tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Mexico's tax laws in the renewable energy sector.
  • Develop tax-efficient strategies for the Mexican market.
  • Oversee financial statement preparation and incorporate tax implications.
  • Conduct tax-related due diligence and audits from third parties.
  • Manage transfer pricing studies and develop policies for compliance.
  • Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Work closely with external auditors in audit preparation.
  • Monitor collections and payments.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in Tax Specialist / Tax Manager or related roles.
  • Proficiency in English with concise communication skills.
  • An accounting or related Law degree.
  • Experience in migrating accounting systems.
  • The following skills:
    • Tax Compliance: Strong understanding of local, state, and federal tax regulations.
    • Cross-functional Collaboration: strong history of effective collaboration with finance, product, and software teams.
    • Tax Planning and Strategy: Development of tax-efficient structures and strategies.
    • Risk Management: strong history of Identification and mitigation of potential tax risks.
    • Data Analytics: Strong proficiency in industry best practice data analytics tools for streamlined tax processes.
    • Communication and Leadership: Clear communication of complex tax issues.
