Role Overview


The Americas Corporate Team Lead position within the Americas Controller organization will report directly to the Americas Corporate Manager. This role is responsible for managing the Corporate general ledger department, which performs all the Americas Corporate month-end close steps associated with holding entities.


Key Responsibilities



  • Oversee and manage Americas Corporate general US GAAP accounting function, including but not limited to: cash, cash pooling, intercompany, accruals, foreign exchange, etc.
  • Lead a team of up to 3 general ledger analysts that perform the month-end close for all Corporate legal entities
  • Primary accounting lead on any accounting issues encountered by FP&A, Treasury, Legal, etc.
  • Review and approve recurring and non-recurring journal entries
  • Review and approve monthly, quarterly and yearly SOX controls to ensure all Corporate entities comply with the company's policies
  • Review and approve monthly account reconciliations prepared by general ledger analysts
  • Review and approve monthly balance sheet and income statement trend reports
  • Identify and resolve potential issues that could impact month-end close deadlines
  • Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
  • Primary USA accounting lead on any audits and examinations from external or internal inquiries, including but not limited to governmental agencies, external auditors, etc.
  • Serve as liaison for others in the finance organization for ad hoc requests such as trade compliance audits, transfer price inquiries and governmental agencies filings
  • Provide support to Manager on any other ad hoc analysis or special projects as requested

Requirements


The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of public or private accounting experience and be bilingual in English and Spanish. Inventory accounting experience is required, while GL accounting experience is strongly preferred. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or related discipline, is also preferred. Additionally, a CPA or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.


Technical Requirements


The candidate should have advanced Excel skills and experience with SAP or similar ERP systems. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as a customer focus, are essential. The ideal candidate should be able to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrate a proactive approach to driving change, and be detail-oriented with an organized and efficient approach to record-keeping.


Competencies


The selected candidate will have strong knowledge of basic accounting concepts, including cost accounting, inventory, VAT taxes, and foreign exchange. They should be able to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders, including staff members and external parties. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
