About the Role

Sensata Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and develop innovative products that meet customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support New Product Development (NPD) projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality products.
  • Perform design verification using analytical and experimental methods, such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs, directing support personnel in the preparation of detailed technology selection, conceptual design, detail design, and prototyping.
  • Develop and execute testing, engineering analysis, qualification testing, and production launch plans.
  • Resolve problems of limited scope using engineering fundamentals, executing scripted Design/Process Validation (DV/PV) testing with limited support.
  • Complete Failure Analysis investigations and engineering evaluations.
  • Maintain product documentation, including drawings and specifications, and lessons learned.
  • Interact with customers to solicit product specifications requirements, schedule expectations, and budget.
  • Stay up-to-date with in-house and supplier manufacturing technologies.
  • Conduct corrosion research and welding characterization.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, mechanics, fluid, thermo, and heat transfer.
  • Utilize knowledge of basic electrical circuits, microelectronic assembly, statistical methods, process control fundamentals, and product test processes.
  • Proficiently use CAD/3D tools, such as Solidworks, and design tools, such as Matlab and Minitab.
  • Aware of Design to Cost and Design for Manufacturability principles.
  • Meet tight deadlines and work towards targets.
  • Focus on client needs and expectations.
  • Apply problem-solving and judgment skills to assess options and implications.
  • Offer innovative solutions and adapt to change.
  • Hold self-accountability for achieving goals and standards.
Requirements
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Strong communication, organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization, including suppliers and external customers.
  • Fluent in English.
